From Freshman Fears to Final Year Feats: My Physio Journey at Legon
From the very beginning as a fresher, I was full of expectations. I came in with grand plans—to excel not just as a student, but as a young Christian who wanted to mature in all strata of life. Little did I know that this journey would test and shape me in more ways than I could imagine.
In Level 100, as a Health Science student, we were expected to juggle 10 to 11 courses, with the pressure to hit at least a 2.0 CGPA by second semester. My heart pounded like the earthquake that shattered my great-grandmother’s golden chamber pot back in 2007 because let’s just say… my CGPA wasn’t exactly “singing the notes” they wanted to hear. But grace found me, and I leapt into Level 200.
As a certified Percher of Pent Hall with holy pride, Level 200 hit different. Between early morning buses to Korle-Bu, intense lecture schedules, and fellowship meetings, I had to learn the art of intentionality. Balance wasn’t optional—it was survival. But amidst it all, CVC choir rehearsals after long days in steamy lecture halls were pure therapy. The joy and energy in those moments? Nothing in this 3D world compares.
Levels 300 and 400 brought the real deal. Academically, that’s when it finally felt like I was studying Physiotherapy. One unforgettable (and mildly traumatizing) moment was when a lecturer turned an entire project work into an exam question—30 marks, 2 hours, and a whole bunch of other demanding questions.L400 came faster than expected, with fewer courses but a colossal project dissertation that could suck the air out of your lungs in a minute.
Being a Physio student isn’t easy. There were days I went for lectures without bathing (don’t judge),cooked mouth-watering meals, made magical memories with my colleagues, and met incredible, Godly individuals who changed my life. Every hot lecture, every long walk, every late-night study, every strand of the coconut leaf added up to mold me wholistically.
“To grow whole: Learn, Unlearn, and Re-learn.”
Peace out ✌🏾… -ELFOG(L400).
