UGAPS CV Writing Webinar
About the Event
On June 7, 2025, the University of Ghana Association of Physiotherapy Students (UGAPS), through its Academic Committee, organized a CV Writing Webinar aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge and tools to build professional, compelling CVs. This virtual session was facilitated by Samuel Owusu Appiah, a third-year Physiotherapy student and active member of the academic committee. With increasing competition in academic and job applications, the webinar was timely and essential for students seeking to stand out through their CVs.
The webinar provided students with both theoretical insights and actionable strategies on CV structure, formatting, and content customization for various career paths. It also introduced members to recommended templates and tools for CV building.

“Use consistent fonts and spacing; your CV should be clean, concise, and no more than two pages for job applications.”
- Major Sections of a CV:
The facilitator broke down the essential components of a CV, including:- Contact Information
- Objective/Professional Summary
- Education
- Work and Research Experience
- Volunteer Activities
- Skills & Certifications
- Awards and Honors
- Do’s and Don’ts:
Participants received practical advice on what to avoid, such as using unprofessional file names, listing irrelevant experiences, or relying solely on spellcheck.
“Avoid generic resumes—tailor each one to the specific job or graduate program.”
- Resources and Templates:
While a live CV-building demonstration was initially considered, Samuel opted instead to distribute a customizable CV template upon the suggestion of an attendee. He also recommended other resources such as Google Docs templates for further exploration.
The session concluded with no further questions, suggesting that the content had been thoroughly understood. The UGAPS President, H.E Kelvin Owusu Amfo then gave a brief vote of thanks, appreciating the facilitator and the academic committee for organizing the event, and formally brought the meeting to a close.
